Jon graduated with a BA (Hons) Menswear Fashion Design Degree. His first fashion design role was for the British menswear brand Moss Bros. He then moved across to the east end of London designing clothes for the streetwear label Bench. After being head-hunted, Jon started working as a Senior Apparel Designer for the international sportswear brand Puma. Designing a mix of lifestyle, activewear, and performance clothing over the next 5 years. In 2008 he set up a Design Studio in his hometown of Brighton & Hove working for many different fashion brands including Adidas and Timberland. In 2012 he took a permanent denim design role in London’s west end for Next. In 2014 Jon moved to Manchester taking on an activewear fashion design position with Umbro creating team wear and football kits for clubs such as West Ham, Everton, and PSV Eindhoven.
Now residing in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, working once more as a Freelance Fashion Designer, Jon established J Mitchell Design in 2017 which quickly gained a reputation as one of the UK's leading fashion design studios. JMitchellDesign won the award for Best Men's Fashion Design Studio UK.

He works for clients in the UK, Ireland, Dubai, Qatar, Australia, NZ, Canada and USA including outdoor clothing for Regatta/Dare2b, lifestyle sportswear for Ellesse and Ecko Unltd, on-trend streetwear ranges for Instagram brands like Aces CoutureVolé La Lumière, ONExU, and Scar Tissue. Gymwear for fitness brands like Gunsmith Fitness, Box-Up Nation and Running Woman. Jon also designs body armour and bulletproof vests for Safeguard Armor.

JMitchellDesign has helped create and launch multi-product fashion start-up brands across sportswear, activewear, equestrian, lifestyle, sustainable, and performance sectors.
